Beneath Abu Dhabi’s iconic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, a 1,050 sqm permanent exhibition invites visitors into an immersive journey through Islamic history, art, and philosophy — where light itself becomes the primary narrative tool.
Designed by Ralph Appelbaum Associates and illuminated by Michael Grubb Studio, the exhibition titled Light & Peace spans five galleries — each with its own core message: Tolerance, Faith, Expressions, the Grand Mosque, and Universal Coexistence.
The underground “black box” environment presented a rare creative opportunity: complete darkness as a design element. Light levels were meticulously controlled to protect sensitive artefacts, with many displays not exceeding 50 lux, while simultaneously creating a deeply atmospheric visitor experience.
LICLLAB was among the manufacturers specified by Michael Grubb Studio for this landmark commission, contributing custom Neon Flex product to the lighting palette of one of the region’s most significant cultural institutions.

ME DO RE Tower set a high bar from the outset: a luxury residential development in one of the world's most competitive real estate markets, where the quality of every finish — including lighting — is measured against the very best the city has to offer. The project required a lighting specification that could deliver two distinct but equally demanding performances: a refined, atmospheric interior environment for residents across a wide range of living spaces, and a striking architectural lighting presence on the building's exterior facade that would establish ME DO RE as a recognisable landmark on the Dubai skyline. The interior lighting had to achieve exceptional colour rendering across premium materials including stone, timber, metal, and glass, while the exterior system needed to be durable, energy-efficient, and capable of both static and dynamic modes for special occasions. Coordinating a seamless specification across both scales, and delivering it to the tolerances expected by a development of this calibre, was the central challenge of the project.
LICLLAB specified a carefully considered dual-system approach for ME DO RE Tower, combining the LIMITLESS NEON with bespoke custom Strip LED products — both engineered and manufactured in Italy to the exacting standards that a project of this standing demands. The LIMITLESS NEON was deployed to define the tower's key architectural lines and interior spatial transitions, delivering a smooth, continuous glow that traces profiles, recesses, and feature elements with a refinement that feels intrinsic to the building rather than applied. The custom Strip LED system was developed in close collaboration with the project team, tailored to precise colour temperature, output, and beam angle requirements for each residential zone — from lobby and amenity spaces to private apartment interiors. The result is a layered lighting environment that communicates luxury at every level: from the warmth of individual living spaces to the building's commanding presence against the Dubai night sky. LICLLAB's close partnership with the project team throughout the design and delivery process ensured that every product arrived on programme, to specification, and to the quality standard that ME DO RE Tower's residents and owners rightly expected.
