Beneath Abu Dhabi’s iconic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, a 1,050 sqm permanent exhibition invites visitors into an immersive journey through Islamic history, art, and philosophy — where light itself becomes the primary narrative tool.
Designed by Ralph Appelbaum Associates and illuminated by Michael Grubb Studio, the exhibition titled Light & Peace spans five galleries — each with its own core message: Tolerance, Faith, Expressions, the Grand Mosque, and Universal Coexistence.
The underground “black box” environment presented a rare creative opportunity: complete darkness as a design element. Light levels were meticulously controlled to protect sensitive artefacts, with many displays not exceeding 50 lux, while simultaneously creating a deeply atmospheric visitor experience.
LICLLAB was among the manufacturers specified by Michael Grubb Studio for this landmark commission, contributing custom Neon Flex product to the lighting palette of one of the region’s most significant cultural institutions.

The Marsa Al Arab penthouses demanded a lighting solution that could match the extraordinary ambition of the development itself. As residences positioned at the pinnacle of one of Dubai's most prestigious destinations, every surface, material, and spatial transition required lighting that could enhance without overpowering. The design team required a flexible, high-performance linear neon solution capable of articulating architectural profiles and ceiling details with precision, alongside a custom Strip LED system that could deliver consistent colour rendering across a palette of premium materials including marble, metals, and bespoke joinery. The challenge was to create lighting that felt entirely organic to the space — effortless, warm, and deeply refined, worthy of Marsa Al Arab's global reputation for excellence.
LICLLAB specified a combination of its LIMITLESS Neon alongside custom Strip LED solutions, both engineered and manufactured in Italy to exacting standards. The LIMITLESS Neon, with its characteristically smooth and uniform output, was used to define key architectural elements — tracing ceiling recesses, framing niches, and articulating transitions between materials with a continuous, seamless glow. The custom Strip LED products were tailored to the specific colour temperature and CRI requirements of each space, ensuring that the penthouse interiors were rendered with warmth, accuracy, and depth. The result is a lighting environment that shifts effortlessly between functional illumination and atmospheric mood — a living element of the design that responds to the rhythms of the day and the preferences of its residents.
The Marsa Al Arab Penthouse project was highlighted across regional architecture and design publications as a landmark example of high-end residential lighting in the UAE.
