The Project

Jordan Gate Towers stands as a symbol of modern urban development in Amman — a pair of 150-metre mixed-use towers at the 6th Circle district whose bold geometry has redefined the Jordanian capital's skyline since their completion.

LICLLAB delivered a comprehensive facade lighting design that illuminates the towers' dramatic curved glass silhouette against the night sky — using a custom pixel RGBW linear system purpose-built for the curtain wall geometry of both structures.

The result is a landmark that operates in multiple registers: a precise, warm architectural presence on ordinary evenings, and a fully choreographed civic beacon during national celebrations, cultural events, and significant occasions — individually addressable across thousands of linear metres of facade.

"The twin towers demanded a lighting approach that would honour their architectural boldness while creating a beacon visible across the Amman skyline — light had to be both precise and poetic."

The Challenge

Illuminating a twin-tower icon without overwhelming its form or the skyline around it

Jordan Gate Towers presented a unique challenge: how to illuminate a pair of 150-metre mixed-use towers in a way that celebrates their bold, modern geometry without creating visual clutter against Amman's skyline. The towers' curved glass facades and exposed structural elements required a lighting solution that could accentuate depth and contour while maintaining energy efficiency.

The installation had to withstand Jordan's extreme temperature variations — from hot summers exceeding 40°C to cold, windy winters — and deliver consistent colour rendering across thousands of linear metres. Equally important, the lighting needed to complement the surrounding urban fabric of the 6th Circle district rather than dominate it.

The Solution

Custom pixel RGBW linears — dynamic, durable, and architecturally invisible by day

LicLLab engineered a bespoke pixel RGBW linear lighting system, purpose-built for the Jordan Gate Towers' facade geometry. Each luminaire was custom-profiled to integrate flush with the curtain wall system, ensuring a clean daytime appearance and a seamless nighttime transformation.

The precision-engineered pixel technology allows for individually addressable colour control across the entire facade, enabling endless dynamic scenes — from elegant static white washes to choreographed colour sequences for national celebrations. Every component was manufactured in Italy to LicLLab's exacting standards, with IP67-rated housings and marine-grade finishes to ensure long-term durability in Amman's continental climate.

Press Coverage
Lighting Magazine Middle East Architect

The Jordan Gate Towers project was featured in Lighting Magazine and Middle East Architect as a landmark example of large-scale pixel facade lighting in the Gulf and Levant region. The coverage highlighted LicLLab's engineering approach — the bespoke curtain-wall integration, the IP67 specification, and the flexibility of the DMX programming framework.

The project has become a key reference in the region for high-rise facade lighting that successfully serves both everyday architectural expression and civic celebration, demonstrating that energy efficiency and dynamic spectacle are not mutually exclusive goals in a building of this scale.
